July 2012 Damn is it hot! But we're making a little progress between water breaks and sitting in the outdoor tub.
June/July 2012 The 100F heat has driven us back inside and we have picked back up working on our Hundested propeller system.
May/June 2012 Folding the Hull.

Jan 2012 Testing a new metal casting furnace and burner. Nothing
better than molten metal on a cold January day.

Dec 2011
We've had some great weather this Fall and managed to get one side of our hull plate fully welded. However the weather is turning so we are also getting ready to have some indoor projects ready. One of those projects is casting propeller blades for our Hundested controllable pitch propeller system.
Nov 2011
Flipping again but this time with Budgit electric hoist and not the Harbor Freight manual chain hoist. ...what a difference.
After four days for grinding, back gouging, and welding it starts to become a part of me. I feel the grinder's vibration, the heat of the weld on the back of my hand, and smell the flux. The routine becomes a time to think and reflect. I ignore the pain in my muscles and the cold in my boots. I dream of blue water and white spray and exploration below the surface. Then I have to get up Monday morning, put on my sheep cloak and go back to the cubical farm. ...well, at least I get to rest
Oct 2011
Flipping over her 5 ton half hull, and a bit of
excitement.
Oct 2011
Cutting out the bow and transom and the curved part of the hull.
Sept 2011

Sept 2011 Starting on the Hull

Aug 2011 - We found the foremast via Craigslist, outside of East St. Louis, Illinois. Only problem is it was actually 47 feet long and not the advertised 40 feet. The drive back was done at less than 50 mph making for a 23 hour long day. The up side is that the Suburban gets much better mileage at 50 mph.
Aug 2011 - Learning how to butt weld 1/4" steel plate with my minion.

able to get our deck crane for $2,450. Less what ever we can
get for the truck that it is sitting on. Read more here:
